Both are engineered to prevent distortion, such as warping or twisting, providing a lifetime of smooth operation. All softwood windows and doors come with a hardwood cill (bottom) as standard to withstand the harshest weather. Using a micro-porous paint coating this allows moisture out but not in, so your windows and doors won't swell or retain moisture protecting against rot.
